“Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless.” —Mother Teresa
With April coming to a close, the 1st annual Crime Stoppers of Michigan Month is coming to a close, and so has my time as Digital Media Specialist (DMS).
As the DMS at Crime Stoppers of Michigan, I have witnessed the full impact of what we do here… I’ve watched sisters and brothers lean on one another for support as they tearfully plead for justice in front of my camera. I’ve filmed parents detailing the day they found out someone had been arrested for the murder of their child. I’ve marched in the streets with families and survivors, chanting for an end to gun violence.
In my time at Crime Stoppers, the anonymous tip line was able to provide an alternative to silence for over 4,000 tipsters and our press conferences gave 123 crime victims their voices back. These services, and more, are provided to the residents of Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair, Washtenaw, and Wayne counties at no cost.
But it’s all made possible through financial support from members of the community, local businesses and corporations. With support, Crime Stoppers can continue to lift victims and their families up after they’ve been knocked down. With support, Crime Stoppers can continue to work to make our neighborhoods, communities and schools a place where children can live, play and learn without fear. With support, Crime Stoppers can continue to provide anonymity and safety for those who want to do the right thing.
And it was an honor and a privilege to have the opportunity to make a difference. But you can make a difference too. Please support Crime Stoppers of Michigan by making a contribution today.
